A Psychology of Winning at BlackjackThere are lots of versions on the psychology of winning at blackjack out there, and most of them will talk mostly about skills and strategies. These are indeed important, but according to experts and authors on blackjack and gambling, a realistic psychology of winning at blackjack is the one most casino owners have. Casino owners win some 90 percent of the time though they really don't care much who among their clients wins. Anyway, at the end of the day, they gain most winnings. Well, they lose some, but there's always a tomorrow for another day of business. The key here is, they don't care much who wins. They treat running casinos as a business. They take note of the weak players and give these guys a good time, to lure them to excitement---a few wins here and there. This way, they always come back. Casinos also take note of good players. These they give a hard time. In some places, like Korea, good gamblers are given limits on the amount they can bet and win. If good gamblers are deemed winning too much, they're not allowed to just leave the place any time they want. The casino must recover or break even. Or, they'd be watched too closely until they feel uneasy. Casino owners have one thing in mind---do the business. They don't care a hoot about winning in a blackjack game session or anything like that. In fact, they know that running this business means some days they're winning, some days they're not. But they take everything in stride. Losing money is a fact of life. Meanwhile, they keep good clients happy (and get rid of "bad" ones) so the business stays healthy. This, according to veteran gamblers, is the best psychology of winning at blackjack, or any other gambling game. How does this apply to us? Remember that in anything we do, winning and losing are hard facts of life. Don't take anything too personal or too seriously. Just like casino owners' attitude, if today we lose, then there's another day to try winning. Objectively check on the strategies used and weed out bad ones that have not been working. Remember the casino owners getting rid of "bad" players who seem to be winning too much? As we try to take it easy on the obsession to win, we also open-mindedly try to improve our skills. There can be no better psychology of winning at blackjack than this. |
